Fixed braces for children are an option that requires less discipline, so the therapy often lasts much shorter than with removable braces, which is one of the main advantages of fixed braces for children.

Additionally, a great advantage of fixed braces is that they do not interfere with speech like removable braces, so children adjust to them more quickly.

What does the process look like?

The process of deciding on and placing fixed braces for children begins with a consultation with the orthodontist, who examines the teeth and jaw and takes X-rays. It is recommended to bring the child for a check-up at the age of seven, so that if therapy is needed, it can start on time. After the analysis, the orthodontist creates an individualized treatment plan, and then adhesive is applied to the teeth to attach the braces. The braces are connected with a wire, which is regularly adjusted during follow-up appointments to gradually straighten the teeth.

What does wearing fixed braces look like?

The duration of the therapy is individual and depends on the condition and anomaly being corrected, but on average, the treatment lasts about two years. During this period, the desired tooth position is gradually achieved using wires attached to the braces on the teeth. Due to jaw behavior and possible changes, there is a chance that the teeth may shift after orthodontic treatment is completed. Therefore, special wires are placed on the inside of the teeth to ensure the stability of the position achieved through therapy.
