Removable braces for children

Unlike fixed braces, removable braces can be taken off and put back on the jaw by the patient themselves.
They are intended for children because their effect stops once the jaw stops growing, and they are a common choice due to easier maintenance of oral hygiene, being more comfortable to wear, and allowing the child to remove them during meals or important events.

What does the process look like?

A check-up is recommended at the age of seven, as this is the period when baby teeth begin to fall out. The process of wearing braces varies for each individual, so our procedure starts with a detailed analysis and examination of the jaw and teeth. We then decide on the best option for each specific case and regularly monitor development to improve the effectiveness of the therapy and, when possible, shorten its duration.

What does wearing a removable braces look like?

The duration of the therapy is individual and depends on the condition being corrected, as well as the patient’s discipline, which can be a greater challenge for children. The general rule is that the braces should be worn at least 4 hours longer than the time they are not worn. For example, if the child hasn’t worn the braces for 8 hours, they need to be worn for a minimum of 12 hours, with a recommendation of 14 hours per day. Additionally, the removable braces should be taken out before meals, cleaned, and dried, and it is important to brush the teeth before putting the braces back in.
