Teeth cleaning (scaling)

Tartar cleaning is a key part of maintaining oral health and is recommended every six months.
Dental tartar forms when soft dental plaque hardens due to mineralization, which can lead to a range of problems, including gum disease, cavities, and bad breath.
The amount of tartar that accumulates on teeth depends on several factors, including dietary habits, oral hygiene, saliva composition, smoking, and genetic predispositions.

How the procedure looks

The tartar cleaning procedure begins with an examination of the oral cavity to assess the condition and extent of the tartar. The next step is the removal of tartar using an ultrasonic device, which effectively breaks down the deposits. After that, remaining plaque and surface stains are removed, and the teeth are polished with a special paste and brush. It is recommended to avoid consuming food and drinks that can stain the teeth, such as coffee and wine, for a few days after the cleaning.

How to recognize when you need to clean tartar from your teeth?

You can recognize when it’s time for tartar cleaning if you notice yellowish or brownish deposits on your teeth, bleeding gums during brushing or flossing, bad breath or taste in your mouth, or a rough feeling on your teeth. If it’s been more than six months since your last professional cleaning, it’s also time for a visit to the dentist. Regular tartar cleaning helps prevent more serious dental problems.
